What the heck is she doing?

Over the years Penny has been based on myself, a couple of other people, and then back to myself.

You can base a character on somebody else, but eventually you’ll have to fill in certain holes with a guess that is a reflection of yourself. If you don’t watch it, you’re just writing about yourself again. In the case of Penny, that was a good thing.

For awhile there, she was based on my homelife. Home life can be boring. Stuff that I think is incredibly witty is actually Tuesday. Thankfully, my homelife changed and so did Penny.

My focus character stopped being Harvey and started being Penny, the strip moved away from wacky Tuesday material, and a new direction took over.

But some of the home stuff was good.
