I miss drawing in black and white. I miss drawing on paper. I miss scanning stuff and attempting to get it to look right at a lower resolution for a screen. I even miss hand lettering my comics instead of using a font from my handwriting.
Most of all, I miss having the time to do all of that. Now it’s all rush, rush, rush, like the drawing above.
If I ever make enough money to do this full time, I’ll do more black and white. Making things in color is faster than it used to be, at least for online viewing, and it’s sort of expected. Still, I like black and white comics the most. Seeing old Charlie Brown dailies in modern, snazzy color looks a bit off to me.
So here we have some of the last black and white comics I made. It was all quick brushwork, with shading added in Photoshop, but I liked these. I could make them very quickly.
It’s been so long, it feels like I’m reading these for the first time. Hey, this was a good one!
Berle never would’ve made the cake anyway.
I could use one of these cards if I wanted someone to never talk to me again.
Hey, it’s the boss man! Boss man has been around for quite some time, evolving throughout unrelated, miscellaneous strips. At some point I’ll post comics that show his evolution.
And now….BOOM! Let there be color.
i feel for harvey 😄 i am a concussive sneezer also.
black and white is such a great medium and in some cases very expressive. and actually certain points can only be made without colour so i totally get that 👍😁
